At Acali, if you choose to spend your summer on our dock, your boat doesn’t just sit there. Acali Place Marina takes care of all the work to get your boat ready for a summer on the water. This relieves boat owners who choose to dock at Acali so that they can spend their time enjoying an easy and hassle-free boating season, while we take care of all the headaches in spring commissioning for you to hit the waves.
The Following is a general checklist of what Spring Commissioning entails. As this is simply a general guideline, we are always sure to consult the owner’s manual before doing anything to make sure that your boat’s specific needs are met.
Spring Commisioning Checklist
Shrink Wrap Removal
- Remove shrink wrap promptly after uncovering your vessel
- Separate wrap from rope
- Dispose of materials in the designated bin by June 1
Fuel System
- Inspect hoses, connections, and tank surfaces for leaks or damage
- Replace worn or damaged components
- Confirm all fittings and clamps are secure
- Ensure engine, exhaust, and ventilation systems are functioning properly
Belts, Cables & Hoses
- Check for cracks, brittleness, or wear
- Ensure belts are properly tensioned
- Inspect control cables for swelling or damage to outer jackets
Electrical System
- Inspect all connections for cleanliness, tightness, and corrosion
- Clean terminals using a wire brush as needed
- Charge and test batteries
- Consider professional inspection for optimal safety
Fluid Levels
- Check engine oil, power steering, trim, and coolant levels
- Change oil, filters, and drive lubricants if not completed during winterization
Propellers & Hull
- Inspect propellers for dings, cracks, or distortion
- Ensure propeller is securely fastened
- Check hull for blisters, cracks, or damage
- Clean hull, deck, and topsides using environmentally safe products
- Confirm drain plug is securely installed prior to launch
Safety Equipment
- Ensure life jackets are in good condition and properly sized
- Verify fire extinguishers are charged and correctly rated
- Confirm carbon monoxide detectors are installed and operational
- Consider a membership with Canada Towboat or C-Tow for added peace of mind
